Our workshop
A small enamel shop, a pair of kilns, and a lot of hand-painted spatter.
Rumblerow began with a simple frustration: enamelware that looked cheerful in the shop and chipped within a month. Vitreous enamel is glass fused onto steel — done properly it is close to indestructible, and done cheaply it is a thin coat over a dent waiting to happen.
We press our own steel blanks, dip them twice, and fire each piece at around 800°C so the glaze bonds to the metal rather than sitting on top of it. Every speckle, check, stripe and sprig is applied by hand, which is why no two pieces in a set are quite identical.
What we make
Mugs and tumblers, plates and bowls, trays and platters, jugs, canisters, colanders and bread bins — plus boxed sets. Everything is designed to be used daily: dishwasher safe, oven safe to 230°C, and tough enough for a picnic as well as a kitchen shelf.
